Subject: Is any one a nurse here? Thu 23 Jul - 14:23
Are you a nurse or do you know anyone who can advise me on this matter?
14 months ago i had laser surger to remove pre cancerous cells of the cervix. My first visit to the colposcopy clinic after that is a bit blurred but i think they said everything looked ok although i know they struggled to do a smear. The second visit they were unsucessfull in doing a smear and this third time they were not able to get a smear. From what i could understand, the cervix is blocked (fused?) and there will be a meeting to discuss my case. How come the cervix is blocked, was it something to do with the laser? Obviously it wont unblock itself. How do i know that 14 months ago they removed all the pre cancerous cells if they havent been able to get a proper smear? What does this mean now, what will happen and is this blocked cervix a natural thing to happen? The Dr at the colposcapy clinic said there would be a meeting to discuss my case but I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!

Thanks GOLDIE ,.Chantelle, Shanie I am seeing the doctor tomorrow to ask for the result from the hospital of the operation i had 17 months ago (not 14) and to see if she can explain a bit more.
Lyndy I hope your right and its just lesions and can be dealt with easily. We women have to go through so much and i think we all hate having a smear/internal. Its even worse when you have to go every 3 months and then they spend all that time messing with your insides..its so degrading
Chris If your just looking in.........I hope your feeling better and i hope Geoff keeping his chin up!!!

Hiya.Deanne Well the doctor looked back 17 months and apparently they did a smear (after operation) and it appeared negative thats all the doctor could tell me and i had to ring the colposcopy clinic and tell them my worries. They said that the closing of the cervix is not totaly uncommon as some women after the menapause start closing up ( "NO ENTRY " sign the skin becomes like paper tissue if your not on HRT and i'm not. Apart from that the hospital said they could not tell me any more until the doctors and specialists had their meeting which is next week. I will keep you informed As for the rain.well it never stops does it? Looks like thats gonna be how it is in the UK now
Gosh Chris I hope Debbie is ok. Its frightening getting that swine flu!! You keep away from her...sound cruel but its for your safety.

I have got the date for my operation (Monday 14th).they are going to open the cervix so that they can do a smear. I hope its going to stay that way. Imagine if i have to have it done every year. I dont think so.....do you?

Girls
I had the operation and they were able to dialate the cervix but as there was so much blood they could not do the smear because they would not be able to get a proper result. Then the doctor told me they couldnt be sure the cervix would not close up again so i have an appointment before i go away in October. We are hoping that it wont close up and they can get a smear and a negative one at that!. The alternative is not looking good so please keep your fingers crossed for me.xxx
